Transact is a hosted solution, operating 24x7x365 on Black Duck Software’s server grid. It compares your code with Black Duck’s comprehensive online KnowledgeBase of hundreds of thousands of open source software components to help you understand your code before a deal is made.
Transact leverages Black Duck's advanced “Code Print” technology and comprehensive KnowledgeBase to recognize when any of thousands of open source programs have been inserted into your source code. The system can identify small blocks of code, and even code that has been modified. Transact then shows the impact of those code matches by highlighting license obligations from hundreds of open source software licenses.
From this analysis, Transact creates a “snap shot” report of the relevant licenses and issues relating to the software combinations that need to be remedied by software engineers or cleared by your company's legal counsel.
